Monday, August 1, 2011 (Greensboro Georgia) -
The Las Vegas Convention Center was the site of IBS (International Hair Show) Las Vegas 2011. The show is amazing and exists to provide beauty industry professionals new tools, techniques and skills they can put into everyday practice. Almost 19,000 beauty professionals attended the prestigious show with the staff of Zapien’s Salon being amongst them.
Zapien’s Salon offers two locations – Zapien’s Atlanta Salon in the heart of Buckhead and Zapien’s Greensboro Salon and Spa at Lake Oconee. Norman Zapien, Zapien’s founder, has traveled the globe over the course of his 40 plus year career experiencing the latest in hair cutting and colouring techniques. He worked as the educational director for the legendary Paul Mitchell in New York City and as an educator at Vidal Sassoon in London. Norman also provided services for some of Hollywood’s hottest celeberties as owner of the Submarine Salon in Beverly Hills. His drive for excellence comes from a passion for the industry and Norman has passed the same drive over to his staff.
“We are bringing the city to our clients so we have to stay on top of the hottest trends. It’s all about art! When our clients come to us, they expect to look and feel amazing. IBS Las Vegas enables us to deliver excellence to our clients by equipping us with the latest tools and techniques the industry has to offer. These types of shows help to unleash the creativity within each stylist. We take education very seriously and I believe that’s what truly sets us apart.” say Norman.
IBS Las Vegas offered the Zapien’s team an opportunity to experience some exceptional Main Stage performances by top industry professionals such as Nick Arrojo and Eve Pearl along with many others who presented their exciting techniques and skills to thousands pushing the limits of the imagination. A multitude of workshops were offered at IBS so Norman took a team approach splitting the staff to attend various classes enabling them to bring back a wealth of knowledge that benefits the entire salon.
The exhibit hall at IBS Las Vegas was a candy store for the Zapien’s team overflowing with some of the industry’s most innovative vendors who provided valuable in-booth education and showcased countless products and tools. Many of the latest trends were displayed. Keratin hair treatments, airbrush makeup and eyelash enhancements were extensive with feather hair extensions and tinsel being crowd favorites. Zapien’s brought the Paris Hilton Dream Catchers feather extensions back with them and they are now available at the salon!
The Zapien’s team also enjoyed the night life Vegas has to offer with a performance of Beetles Love by Cirque de Sole. The performance offered creative makeup and hair from retro times to today. This was another opportunity encouraging creative freedom for the stylist. They attended the Day Time Emmy Awards meeting several celebrities and mingled with Miss USA contestants at the Miss USA after party.
The show confirmed that long hair is taking over the world of fashion and colour is evolving into so much more than the once loved all over one tone colour. More volume is hip and tri colour is chic. However, don’t be surprised if this spring brings short cuts with it as 50’s retro looks will be modish.
Look for Zapien’s Salon at the VILLAGE Cardboard boat Regatta on Saturday, August 13 at Lake Oconee Village where they will offer feather extensions, hair tinsel, and hair tattooing along with cutting demonstrations by Norman Zapien himself.
